Simple Energy's $180 Million Round Lifts Startup Funding to $233.6 Million This Week
BENGALURU: Indian startups raised $233.6 million across 16 deals in the week from September 28 to October 2, up 14.9 per cent from $203 million the week before, Inc42 reported on October 3. The number of deals fell 23.8 per cent, and one round accounted for most of the money.
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler maker Simple Energy closed a Series C round of ₹1,750 crore, about $180 million, all of it equity, Autocar Professional reported on September 30. The company called it its largest round to date and the third-largest raised by an Indian electric two-wheeler maker.
The round was led by the family office of Arokiaswamy Velumani. Founder and chief executive Suhas Rajkumar and co-founder and chief financial officer Ankit Gupta also took part, along with Amit Mishra, a high-net-worth investor based in Bengaluru, and the Haran Family Office.
