eSanjeevani Crosses 50 Crore Teleconsultations as Government Telemedicine Adds AI and AIIMS Specialists
NEW DELHI: eSanjeevani, India's national telemedicine service, has crossed 50 crore teleconsultations, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said, according to an All India Radio report on October 6. The ministry said "the achievement reflects the growing role of telemedicine in complementing the country's existing healthcare delivery system."
The figure is cumulative, across all States and Union Territories, since the service began. The ministry describes eSanjeevani as the world's largest telemedicine implementation in primary healthcare.
eSanjeevani was launched in November 2019 as a provider-to-provider service, in which a health worker at a local centre connects a patient with a doctor at a hub, and in April 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, it added direct patient-to-doctor consultations, Digital Health News reported.
