Corrections Policy
Accuracy is our first duty. When we make a mistake, we fix it quickly and say so openly, so readers can trust that what they read on EEST TV is the best information we have.
How to report an error
Use our contact form with the subject “Correction”, or use our contact form with the subject “Correction”. Tell us the article link, what is wrong and, if you can, a source for the correct information. You do not need to give your name.
What we do
- An editor checks every report of an error, usually within one working day.
- Factual errors (a wrong figure, name, date, title, quote or attribution) are corrected in the article, and a dated note is added where readers can see it: “Correction (date): An earlier version of this article said … It is …”. Corrections are never made silently.
- Significant errors that changed the meaning of a story are also noted at the top of the article, and the headline or summary is fixed if it was affected.
- If a story was fundamentally wrong, we publish a clarification or retraction explaining what happened, rather than simply deleting it.
- The time a correction is made is reflected in the article’s “Updated” time and in the data we provide to search engines.
What is not a correction
- Updates – adding new developments to a running story. Updated articles show the time of the latest update.
- Fixing spelling, grammar or formatting that does not change meaning.
- Disagreement with an opinion or with our news judgement. That is welcome feedback, but it is not an error.
Removing content
We do not remove published journalism because it is inconvenient to someone. We may remove or anonymise content in limited cases: a court order, a legal requirement, a serious and unjustified risk to someone’s safety, or old reports about minor matters concerning private individuals. Requests are handled through our Grievance Redressal process.
