Fact-Checking Policy

Every fact we publish should be one we can stand behind. This is how EEST TV checks information before and after publication.
Before publication
- Primary sources first. Figures and claims are checked against the original: government releases (PIB and ministries), regulator and central-bank publications (RBI, SEBI), stock-exchange filings and data (NSE, BSE), court orders, company statements and annual reports. A number we cannot trace to a source is not published.
- Two sources for disputed facts. Where sources conflict, we check further, use the most authoritative, and tell readers when figures differ (“the company said …; exchange data shows …”).
- Quotes come from on-the-record interviews, official statements, filings, or video/audio we have reviewed. We never put words in anyone’s mouth.
- Dates and timing. We confirm when something happened, and we do not report as fact an outcome that had not happened at the time of publication.
- Images and video are checked for origin, date and place before use. We credit the source and the licence, and we do not use synthetic or manipulated images as if they were real photographs.
- Viral claims and social-media posts are not reported as true until verified. If we report on a claim that is circulating, we say clearly whether it has been confirmed.
Editorial checks
An editor reviews every story before it is published, checking the facts, figures, attributions and headline against the sources. Market-moving and legally sensitive stories receive senior review.
After publication
If new information shows we got something wrong, we correct it under our Corrections Policy. Readers can report possible errors through our contact form.
