Standard deduction for salaried people and pensioners: ₹75,000. Section 87A rebate up to ₹60,000 when taxable income is up to ₹12 lakh, with marginal relief just above it.
Old regime, below 60 years

Senior citizens (60 to 79): nil up to ₹3 lakh. Super senior citizens (80+): nil up to ₹5 lakh. Standard deduction ₹50,000; Section 87A rebate up to ₹12,500 when taxable income is up to ₹5 lakh.
Surcharge on tax: 10% above ₹50 lakh, 15% above ₹1 crore, 25% above ₹2 crore (the new regime stops at 25%; the old regime charges 37% above ₹5 crore), with marginal relief. Health and education cess: 4% on tax plus surcharge.
