RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh has received foreign direct investment proposals worth ₹43,250 crore at the first Singapore-India Network for Growth (SING) Forum in Singapore, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said, almost all of it from a single planned data centre.
"At SING Forum 2026, we secured FDI commitments worth ₹43,250 crore, led by a ₹41,750 crore commitment from Singapore's Energy Capital Global for a 100 MW hyperscale data centre in our State," Sai said, according to SME Street.
The data centre
Energy Capital Global Pte Ltd, which is headquartered in Singapore, has committed ₹41,750 crore to a 100-megawatt hyperscale data centre in Chhattisgarh. Sai handed the company a formal invitation to invest, Indian Masterminds and Business News This Week reported.
The data centre is intended to support cloud computing, enterprise data storage and next-generation technology services, and is expected to create specialised jobs in network architecture, systems engineering and facilities management, according to Indian Masterminds. The state's power availability and industrial infrastructure make it competitive for large data centre projects, the report said.
The reports did not say where in the state the data centre would be built. The next steps are land allotment, a framework for buying power, statutory approvals and phased implementation, worked out between state officials and the company.
The remaining ₹1,500 crore of proposals cover supplementary digital solutions, renewable power links and auxiliary IT infrastructure, Indian Masterminds reported. The reports did not name the companies behind them.
"No longer limited to minerals"
Sai said the commitments showed that the state was changing. "Chhattisgarh is no longer limited to minerals and traditional industries but is rapidly emerging as a destination for technology, innovation and global investment," he said, according to SME Street.
"When a global company places such a large bet on Chhattisgarh, it is a powerful statement of trust in our policies," Sai said, according to IndianWeb2, which described the investment as part of the state's move from a traditional industrial base towards digital infrastructure, data centres and new-age technologies.
At the forum he also discussed collaboration in technology, logistics, green energy, industrial infrastructure and urban development, Business News This Week reported.
The forum
The SING Forum, held for the first time this year, was organised by the Singapore Business Federation. It is meant to strengthen economic ties between Singapore and India in technology, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing and digital services, and to promote business partnerships that combine Singapore's expertise with India's growth, SME Street reported.
When Sai arrived in Singapore, he was received by India's High Commissioner to Singapore, Shilpak Ambule, Indian Masterminds reported on October 4. During the visit he took part in a roundtable with chief executives, investors and members of Singapore's business community on investment opportunities in Chhattisgarh across sectors.
The state's pitch covered its new industrial policy, natural resources, infrastructure, skilled workforce and opportunities in emerging sectors. Sai said that strengthening "Chhattisgarh's presence on the global investment map" is a priority for his government, which wants the state counted among India's leading investment destinations.
The same report noted two other recent state initiatives: an agreement with the Archaeological Survey of India to upgrade infrastructure at heritage tourism sites, and the expansion of the Nava Raipur Industrial Park by 406 acres under BHAVYA.
The trip came days after Sai attended a meeting in New Delhi on October 1, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on the long-running Mahanadi water dispute between Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
